MEDUSA, la Gorgone
Livorno, 2 agosto 2024 – Il 12 luglio scorso l’attesissima Mostra Premio d’Arte “Medusa, la Gorgone” è stata inaugurata presso la splendida sede della Fondazione d’Arte Villa Trossi-Uberti a Livorno.

The exhibition, organized by ISOLART Gallery and the Trossi-Uberti Art Foundation, was sponsored by the Tuscany Region, the Municipality of Livorno, the National Association of Italian Fine Arts, the Association for Cultural Development NOMYA, and other institutions. It brought together exceptional artists, artistic teams, and promising emerging talents from around the world.
The representatives of the organizing committee, curator Yuanqi Cao and co-curators Rossella Tesi and Xue Rui, delivered speeches, expressing their appreciation for the sincere support of these institutions and the participating artists.

Their involvement enhanced the visual appeal of the exhibition, broadened the scope of artistic expression, facilitated smoother creative collaboration, and offered visitors a comprehensive and enriching artistic experience.
This exhibition is not only a showcase of contemporary art trends but also an exploration of the developmental paths of art. Its purpose is to highlight and reward artists who have made outstanding contributions to contemporary art while aiming to guide the evolving trends of artistic creation.

The exhibition, while praising mature expressive techniques, also encourages the emergence of excellent artworks that transcend various fields, categories, and boundaries.
The exhibited works encompass a wide range of expressive forms, including painting, sculpture, art installations, and video, as well as multimedia interactivity and conceptual communication. These works represent the avant-garde of contemporary artistic exploration and diverse expression, fully demonstrating the innovative spirit and exceptional talent of the artists.
The Trossi-Uberti Cultural and Artistic Foundation was founded in 1953 by the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Tuscany Region, and the Municipality of Livorno. Its mission is to foster a passion for art among the public and support new artistic talents in the fields of painting, drawing, sculpture, and multimedia. The cultural foundation has established art prizes specifically for this exhibition to recognize and celebrate the artists and works that have achieved significant success in contemporary and modern art.

Over 1,500 Submissions for the Prize from Around the World
The exhibition received enthusiastic submissions from 1,541 artists worldwide, with a total of 3,236 works presented. These masterpieces reflect a variety of artistic forms and styles, including painting, sculpture, art installations, video, multimedia interactivity, and conceptual communication.
55 Selected Artists
The Art Prize selected 55 artists from around the world as finalists, chosen by the jury of the Trossi-Uberti Cultural and Artistic Foundation. These artists come from various countries and regions, including Italy, China, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, India, Cyprus, and Eastern Europe. They lead the vanguard of contemporary art and represent the evolution of artistic styles. Through unique works of art and distinct styles, they interpret the theme of "MEDUSA, the Gorgon" and explore, at a metaphysical level, the relationship between physical space and psychological space, reality and imagination. These works express a deep understanding, reflection, and concern for society, culture, and the inner world.

The Work of the Jury
The jury highly evaluated the creations and works of the finalist artists. After careful selection by renowned professors and international scholars organized by ISOLART Gallery, the Trossi-Uberti Art Foundation, and the National Association of Italian Fine Arts, the winners of the final prizes, honorary awards, excellent dynamic vision prizes, and the grand prize of the exhibition were chosen from the works of the 55 selected artists.

Themes Addressed by the Exhibition
The representative of the organizers and curator, Yuanqi Cao, explained that this art exhibition promoted the interaction and integration between the Italian and international art scenes.
In particular, the participating artists focused on the theme of the exhibition, dedicating themselves to exploring and analyzing taboos related to seduction and transformations that challenge conventions.
Through their works, the artists delved into philosophical themes related to visual perception, identity, and the awakening of individual consciousness, encouraging the audience to reflect on many contemporary issues such as stereotypes, social exclusion, and the construction of individual identity.
This sparked a debate about the positioning of the self within the cultural and mythological construction of modern society. Through the works of the awarded artists, the audience not only appreciated the charm of art but also experienced a profound reflection on the power of art.
